Wedding Weekend Update
Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008This weekend was fantastic! There was a wedding that went off as perfectly as can be expected, but I won’t talk much about that (since I don’t have any pictures of it yet). I’ll update the “Wedding” page whenever we either find someone that took pictures, or once we buy the pictures from our photographers. I will say that it must have been 110 degrees out there, because I didn’t stop sweating for 4 hours!
On Saturday, I wanted to go play golf so I got Russell to start calling around looking for places that we could go. Kimberly didn’t know what she would do during that time, so I suggested that she go to a spa and relax and get her nails done (my treat). She asked if I would pay for April to go too, which I of course agreed to. Kimberly sends Red a text message, and we didn’t hear back. About 5 minutes later, Ben calls asking what the deal is. I explain, and invite him to go golfing with us also (oh, and somewhere during all of that, we invited Aaron also).
We later found out that April had gotten her nails done two days earlier and that her and Ben feverishly tried to get all the polish off so that she could go again!!! (Lesson: keeping secrets are against Russell’s religious beliefs!) Those crazy Reds and their tom-foolery!
So anyways, one of the highlights of the weekend happened while we were golfing. Probably around hole 10, Russell tees off and hits it pretty far, but it’s off to the right. He says something to the affect of “That one went way right.”
Aaron is sitting in the cart, pulled forward a little in front of where Ben is about to tee off from. Ben gets one of the most solid hits he had for the entire day. It unfortunately didn’t go straight. It instead went directly into a fat spot on Aaron’s back. Aaron lets out a cry of agony, and I start laughing. Ben cuffs his hand to his mouth and says something like, “That one went a little right, too.”
It was fantastic!
Other highlights of the weekend include:
- Ben did the “angry fist” (Kim said April was doing it the week before)…and it was funny because he doesn’t move his arm, just bends his wrist
- Russell’s Best Man speech was incredible
- Amber’s Bride’s Maid speech was incredible
- My sister, Heather, came to the wedding from Kansas (no, they don’t live where they grow corn). Taylor (nephew) caught the guarder (ok, really just picked it up…there wasn’t much elasticity in it). Those are two great looking kids!
- I got to see several people I haven’t seen in years
- I got to skip the last dance
- The breakfast! Best breakfast ever!
I’ll make a little update post when I have the pictures from the wedding posted somewhere! Thanks to everyone that came, and thanks even more to everyone that was part of our wedding party and helped us prepare for it all! (And sorry April that we all wussed out at 9:30…but sweating for 4 hours really took the energy out of me!!)
